Print Experiment- Matisse and Colour Theory

Matisse's work took inspiration from moods and changing colours of nature. My prints have taken inspiration from myself- so the colours of my work needs to reflect this. 

Using Johannes Itten's and Josef Albers' theories I can consider:

• How does the word translate through its saturation? Are they warm or cool?
• Do the feelings compliment or contradict each other? Do I use opposite -complimentary- colours on the colour wheel?
• Can I use contrasting adjacent colours to change how we perceive the tone and hue of another?
• Can I use the contrast between the visual weight and colour to show the relationship between feelings? How do the colours neutralise or alter those around them?
