Print Workshop- Colour and Unity
Our first print workshop started with looking at the principle- unity and element- colour as well as what mark- making, visual language, abstract and quality of line means.
Unity- elements working together as a whole 👉 composition, harmonious
Colour- measured by different attributes👉 hue, intensity (...can be subtle or contrasting)
Mark-making - line, gesture/ movement, quality 👉 making marks (...can also be symbolic)
Visual language- form of communication with ought words (working conceptually)👉 using marks to be visually descriptive and expressive
Abstract- avoiding realism (and our approach for this workshop)
Quality of line- of medium you use👉 thickness, pressure, way you physically move the medium
In summery the key words for this workshop were: descriptive, expressive, conceptual and symbolic. After we were asked to think about adjectives to describe ourselves. At that moment I chose: disorientated, goofy, expressive, quiet and adventurous. These words I realised are quite contradictory and I wanted to put the opposing lines from the different drawing together in my prints.
