Emilia- age 4, Leo- age 7
As a way of paying homage to Falciano and boys picking flowers. I asked my brother, Leo, to help me pick leaves and flowers from the ground. He didn't find many flowers- due to the season, but he enjoyed finding different leaves and so the trip became a workshop with my siblings. Their enthusiasm for finding things inspired me to use their creativity -and following the idea of our expression- I wanted to see what they would create, being given the opportunity.
What I found interesting was their way of playing with the materials they had and what they thought about their work. Emilia liked using the stamps to add squares to her piece- she loved the colours and the whole process, being able to get creative.
Leo decided to use Emilia's idea of adding shapes to fill us his page- and told me that two leaves standing together looked like they were getting married. I was so surprised by this and showed him my lino print, asking if he wanted to use it.
This activity showed me what I have been missing: feeling inspired, and allowing myself to be expressive and just create. I love these outcomes for their portrait of that, and this activity is something that I can do myself.
